Wedding Ceremonies

Wedding ceremonies are a blessed and joyous celebration. Most ceremony programs include classical or sacred music. Contemporary music is also an option for your special day. The deciding factor is personal and family preferences as well as religious traditions.

There are four sections to a wedding ceremony:

Prelude

The prelude will set the tone as guests and family are being seated. This portion of the program contains the most music, usually twenty to thirty minutes. » sample songlist

Processional

The processional generally includes two musical selections. The bridesmaids processional is often meaningful and elegant. Flowergirls and ringbearers will also process at this time. The Bridal processional can also be graceful or more dynamic and regal. The musical message of the processional is that the bride has arrived. » sample songlist

Vows Ceremony

The most personal portion of a ceremony program is when the bride and groom say their vows. Check with the minister, rabbi, or officiator for appropriate music. The vows portion of the ceremony may contain background music for lighting of the candles, a vocalist or soloist, and often no music at all. » sample songlist

Recessional

The recessional music should proclaim a joyous nuptial union. After the bride and groom exit, a second piece of music will be played as a postlude while guests depart. Hallelujah! The life celebration begins. » sample songlist

Selecting music and instrumentation for a ceremony is ultimately a personal sentimental choice. Our most popular ensemble for wedding ceremonies is the Blue Tone Chamber Players. String Quartets and Trios are elegant sounding ensembles funtioning equally well indoors or outside. String instrumentation is a good choice for venues without electricity. Flute and harp are excellent options for charming, intimate, garden settings. Remember to always inform musicians when a ceremony will be held outdoors since weather affects instruments.

Guitar and piano are perfect for accompanying a vocalist or soloist. Keyboards and guitar are also the preferred instruments for popular contemporary music. The most regal and dynamic instrument in the chamber orchestra family is the trumpet. Announce the declaration of a union by incorporating the brilliant sound of the trumpet.
